CAF Champions League Group stage: Mamelodi Sundowns secure the first leg

Mamelodi sundowns win their first leg in group stages against Al Hilal 4 - 2 on Saturday 19/03/2022 in Sudan. Saturday afternoon,

CAF Champions league group stages has reached the second last matches and Teams such as AL Hilal are still struggling to survive. The Sudanese premier league club, Al Hilal has lost to Sundowns by  scoring 2 goals and conceding 4 at the Al Hilal stadium in Omdurman Sudan.

Mamelodi Sundowns started the game with simple basic football "space and pass your team mates" which lead to the development of their first goal from Peter Shalulile in 2 minutes. Al-Hilal was a bit unstable in the first half, the team was struggling to find a coherent rhythm to their passes. spaces were created for the away team to penetrate. Domingo runs lead to hasty tackles done by Hilal defense, costing the team a free kick. Tebogo Mokoena converted the free kick and the Home team keeper couldn't stand the shot, sundowns lead by 2 goals to 0.

Second half, as Mamelodi Sundowns continued with their short passes Al-Hilal found a way to pull one back. Thapelo Morena scored the 3rd goal for Masandawana to make it three - one. Sundowns played much more like they were the home team during the game, with comfort on the ball and confidence. The 2016 CAF Champions proved to the home team that they came to snatch points. 89th Minute Tebogo Mokoena scores his second goal of the game to make it four for Sundowns on the day.

Hilal kept going through the match even though the game was not in their favor, El Tayeb secured his team a second goal and made it 4 - 2 the final score on CAF Champions league match day five. Mamelodi Sundowns played fantastic football during the group stages to secure a quarter final spot. Al Hilal is looking to visit Sundowns at home next week in South Africa to conclude the last game of the group stages.
